Three Things to Remember When Choosing Accessories
One notable decorating dilemmas at home is how to choose and later arrange the accessories. Whether it is a bookcase. Lovely pillow. Table. Chair. Or a vase. Here is a useful system with only three steps, to arrange everything properly and harmoniusly. This will change your home into a truly charming place to be. You may even meet your price or princess there, when they come over one day and the stars are aligned.
All accessories have two things in common. Firstly, they avoid boredom in the room. That is most likely the reason they were brought there the first place. The second thing is more important. These accessories in the room are separately seen as just small things. But put together with the furniture set in the room and architecture of the house, accessories make the room whole. This so-called whole is better known as harmony in home decor.
Ying and yang. Furniture and accessories. Floor and ceiling. Bland and interesting. Simple and textured. Dark and light. Accessories provide the much needed contract, which brings life to the room. If the walls are sand colored and so is the couch, then what’s a touch that’s quite opposite to sand? Lively green carpet would provide that touch. Bright green pillows on that couch. Maybe something white on the table and a dash of dark brown elsewhere. Why not a vase? Could you imagine how these brighter colors just mentioned would liven up the room and bring out the contrast? That’s what accessories do.
Make sure that the items fit well and look good at the places they belong. A palm sized pillow will look out of place on a dominating and wide couch. If the table to put flowers on its not that large, putting a large bouquet of flowers on top of it will seem top-heavy.
These are three examples how harmony, contrast and scale fit into choosing accessories to rooms.
